StatSoft Announces selection of STATISTICA QC Miner for use by the University of Tennessee Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

StatSoft (Tulsa, Oklahoma), May 19, 2006

TULSA, Okla. – STATSOFT, Inc. (www.statsoft.com.au) announces that it has been selected to provide STATISTICA QC Miner and STATISTICA Text Miner to the University of Tennessee, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, through 2007. The pharmaceutical department has used STATISTICA software to predict drug dissolution profiles using Machine Learning algorithms. The department is planning to present their findings at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) meeting to be held in November 2006 in San Antonio.

Gerald Rajan, University of Tennessee, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has stated that "This problem (predicting dissolution profiles with near infrared spectral data) had been haunting this industry since 1992. We are the first group to successfully complete this task. Core of this success is powerful, state-of-art STATISTICA data mining algorithms....."

Dr. Gary Miner of StatSoft has noted that “StatSoft is pleased to be working with the University of Tennessee to help support this ground-breaking work, and we look forward to extending the relationship into the future. QC Miner is an ideal fit for developing better drug delivery methods due to its comprehensiveness, open architecture, and use of Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning algorithms uniquely combined with quality control methods.”
